Community Transformation Initiative Kick-off 2027

BHS C.O.P.E is a leadership and community transformation initiative of Black Heritage Society Inc. Inspired by nonviolence and the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., BHS C.O.P.E will equip youth, families, educators, community leaders, and organizations with practical leadership skills that promote peace, civic engagement, economic opportunity, conflict resolution, and community transformation. 

Inspired by the principles of Nonviolence Introduction in partnership with Rev. Dr. Derek King. BHS C.O.P.E. will extend the teachings of Martin Luther King Jr. into practical leadership development that addresses today's social, civic, and economic challenges. Rather than focusing solely on preventing violence, BHS C.O.P.E prepares participants to become peacebuilders, problem-solvers, advocates, and servant leaders who strengthen their communities through informed action and collective responsibility.
